Terms of Business
Commission to vendors is normally 15% with a minimum charge of £10 per lot. This is negotiable for high value items. Payment to vendors is made no earlier than 6 weeks after the sale. Our terms of business to buyers are outlined on the first page of the catalogue. Customers are also urged to read our Notes For Guidance.
Postal Bidders:Postal bid form in centre of catalogue, successful bidders will be notified by pro-forma invoice, you may bid by e-mail on george@traffordbooks.fsnet.co.uk up to 1.30p.m. on the day of the sale.
Telephone Bids:These can be made prior to the sale by ringing 0161 877 8818. If you wish to bid 'live' during the sale please telephone to book your call. Our multi-line system enables us to contact a number of bidders on the same lot. Bids may be sent in by fax on 0161 877 8819.
Room Bidders:Payment by cash, credit or debit card, or cheque up to £50 if supported by a cheque card, except to known clients or by prior arrangement. Credit cards will be subject to a surcharge of 2.5%.
Please Note:A buyer's premium of 15% will be added to your invoice. This charge includes v.a.t. at 17.5% except for books & periodicals which are zero rated.
VAT on foreign imports:Lots prefixed with the letter ‘v’ are imported from outside the e.e.c. and are over 100 years old. They are subject to a charge of 5% v.a.t.m.
